C'era una primavera, era il 2009, e Tonino e Valerio avevano appena cominciato a suonare insieme. Canne, corde, pelli: CANN, CORD e PELL. Non sapevano ancora che stava nascendo qualcosa di più grande di loro — una comunità, una famiglia allargata di danzatrici e danzatori uniti dalla musica e dal movimento, senza distinzioni di età, provenienza o gusti musicali.

Persino il nome del festival nacque da una loro canzone. E non è un nome scelto a caso: come questo pianeta balla girando su sé stesso dall'alba dei tempi, attraversando il buio e riempiendosi di vita, così la nostra piccola grande famiglia danzerà di nuovo con gioia intorno ai Cann Cord e Pell, come ha fatto fin dal primo giorno. 🌍

It was springtime — 2009 — and Tonino and Valerio had just started playing together. Reeds, strings, skins: CANN, CORD e PELL. They didn't know yet that something bigger than themselves was being born: a community, an extended family of dancers united by music and movement, with no distinctions of age, background, or musical taste. Even the festival's name came from one of their songs. And it wasn't chosen by chance: just as this planet has danced spinning on itself since the dawn of time, moving through the darkness and filling itself with life, so our small yet mighty family will dance again with joy around Cann Cord e Pell — just as it has from the very first day. 🌍

Dopo aver aperto il festival nel 2023 al ritorno dalla pandemia, tornano sul nostro palco — ma questa volta non vengono soli. Con loro salgono due straordinari musicisti di origine maliana, Joël e Ousmane Diarra.  Florian and Anouk are practically regulars at BBFF: he can't seem to get enough of Lake Monate, and we can't seem to get enough of his talent. After opening the festival in 2023 on the return from the pandemic, they're back on our stage — but this time, they're not coming alone. Joining them are two extraordinary musicians of Malian origin, Joël and Ousmane Diarra. Together they form the Bamako Express: a train that sets off from Europe and arrives in the heart of West Africa, taking us on a journey through a fusion of worlds, a collision of cultures, a pyrotechnic explosion of notes and rhythm. If Bamako is one of the world's great music capitals, this is the ride that takes you there. Ready to board? 🎶🌍

Forse tutti i musicisti che suonano per il balfolk sono anche intimamente un po’ ballerini…ma ce ne sono alcuni che davvero puoi trovare nei festival di tutta Europa sia sopra che sotto il palco: pronti a proporre dei concerti memorabili, ma anche lanciati in pista a ballare per puro entusiasmo. 

Sylvain, Fabien e Daniel sono quel tipo di musicista lì: quello che sa esattamente come farti ballare per ore, perché è stato anche lui dal tuo lato del palco.

L’air inconnu è un trio creativo, divertente e gioioso, che quando inizia a suonare innesca una lotta senza esclusione di colpi fra le orecchie che vorrebbero fermarsi ad ascoltarli senza perdersi nulla della loro perfetta amalgama musicale e i polpacci che fremono per ballare sui loro pezzi senza mai smettere.

I TocTocToc sono tre musicisti che non han bisogno di presentazioni. 

Sono tre luoghi d’Europa e tre modi diversi d’approcciare la musica per la danza. 

Ma, insieme, sono un unico incredibile universo musicale che supera i confini e le categorie, fatto di luci e ombre, di creatività e poesia, di condivisione e dialogo sempre nuovo e profondamente umano.

Li aspettiamo da molti anni e siamo certi che la gioia che vivremo ascoltandoli finalmente sul nostro palco sarà superata solo dall’entusiasmo che proveremo nel danzare sulle loro note. 

On Saturday, July 4th, TocTocToc will knock at the heart of the festival, and we already know that the dazzling brilliance of their music will resonate within the rooms of our memories for a long time.

TocTocToc are three musicians who need no introduction.
 They come from three different places in Europe and bring three different approaches to music for dance.
 Yet together they form a single, incredible musical universe that transcends borders and categories — made of light and shadow, creativity and poetry, sharing and a dialogue that is always new and deeply human.

We've been waiting for them for many years, and we're certain that the joy we'll feel finally hearing them on our stage will be matched only by the excitement we'll feel dancing to their music.

La sigla BBFF potrebbe stare anche per Big BOURREE Folk Festival.

La bourree ci piace tanto, è una specie di dipendenza: la balleremmo ad ogni ora e anche nei modi più blasfemi (tranquilli che non vi cacceremo se la ballate a 6). Ma per immergersi nella quintessenza della bourree bisogna viaggiare nel Centro Francia, ed entrare nella folk-trance della combo ghironda + cornamusa + fisarmonica. 

E’ lì che ci porta il Trio Meunier Villeneuve, gruppo di giovani musicisti emergenti che prima ci accompagneranno in uno stage di esplorazione di danze del Morvan, per poi offrirci due ore di pura energia con una musica che non smette mai di trascinarci in pista.

We love bourrée so much it's basically an addiction: we'd dance it at any hour, even in the most sinful ways (don't worry, we won't kick you out if you dance it in six). But to immerse yourself in the quintessence of bourrée, you have to travel to Central France and step into the folk-trance of the hurdy-gurdy + bagpipes + accordion combo. 

That's exactly where Trio Meunier Villeneuve will take us — a group of young, up-and-coming musicians who'll first guide us through a workshop exploring the dances of Morvan, before giving us two hours of pure energy with music that never stops pulling us onto the dance floor.

I Petit Piment sono quattro gigantesche personalità musicali della scena folk francese: sul palco l’organetto guizzante di Lucas Thebaut e la cornamusa irreprensibile di Arnaud Bibonne sfidano le epiche imprese ritmiche della coppia batteria/percussioni di Alain Josué e Florian Huygebaert, trascinando chi è in pista in un’inesauribile gioia danzante.

Il tratto distintivo di questo pirotecnico “peroncino” folk è il suo sound energetico “trad’actuel” che invade le orecchie e scatena i cuori con la grande energia delle danze tradizionali del Poitou e della Guascogna, rendendole ancora più esplosive con una poliritmia che le arricchisce di influenze afro-caraibiche.

Petit Piment are four towering musical personalities of the French folk scene: on stage, Lucas Thebaut's nimble accordion and Arnaud Bibonne's impeccable bagpipes go head-to-head with the epic rhythmic feats of the drum/percussion duo Alain Josué and Florian Huygebaert, sweeping everyone on the dance floor into an inexhaustible dancing joy.

The defining trait of this fiery little folk "chili pepper" is its energetic "trad'actuel" sound that floods the ears and ignites hearts with the powerful energy of traditional dances from Poitou and Gascony, making them even more explosive with a polyrhythm enriched by Afro-Caribbean influences.
